Emerging technologies can scale programs with minimal resources; but often are avoided because they are viewed as complex, expensive, or too technical. This session will start with a program’s core content (Resources, Training, Ticketing, and Reporting) and a walkthrough of how to translate it to be more technology friendly. Then explore ways to incorporate your content into different technologies to expand a program’s reach.
We will discuss a variety of commonly used applications (e.g., Adobe, Outlook, and other Microsoft products) and more “advanced” ones (e.g., Chatbots, Business Intelligence tools, Collaborations tools, and Tags) to consider when expanding a program’s training, ticketing, resources, or reporting.
This presentation will NOT be overly technical, but rather a high-level approach to adding different technologies to your toolbox.
Patrick Oakes has twenty years of experience in records management in higher education, government, and corporate environments. Often a team of one, he has learned to leverage technology to grow programming with minimal resources. Specifically, implementing records & information management programs and scaling them to align with organizational growth, changing compliance requirements, and business needs.
Patrick has successfully established global Records & Information Management programs for technology companies (e.g., Amazon.com Inc. and VMware, Inc.), while mentoring others in the tech space on blending information governance with records management best practices.
He is a current board member of the Seattle ARMA chapter and contributes to the chapter’s programming.
